Sakemly — Privacy Policy

Sakemly ("Sakemly", "we", "us") turns WhatsApp chat exports you choose to import into structured summaries — events, to-dos, decisions, open questions and topics — organized into Spaces. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. By using Sakemly you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

• Account information. Your email address, which you provide to sign in. We authenticate you with a one-time code sent to that address; the code is stored only in a hashed, short-lived form.
• Content you import. When you share or import a WhatsApp chat export, we receive the message text contained in that export so we can generate your summary. You decide which chats to import.
• Summaries we generate. The structured digest produced from your import (events, to-dos, decisions, questions, topics), and a copy of the relevant message transcript so you can tap an item to see the original messages.
• Notification token. If you enable reminders, a push token for your device so we can deliver them. You can turn notifications off at any time.
• Basic technical data. Standard server logs needed to operate and secure the service (for example, request timestamps and error information).

We do not ask for or intentionally collect special categories of personal data. Please only import chats you are comfortable processing.

2. How we use your information

• To generate and display your digests and Spaces.
• To sign you in and keep your account secure.
• To operate, maintain, debug and improve the reliability of the service.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your chat content to show you ads.

3. AI processing

To create summaries, the imported chat text is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, PBC (the "Claude" API), a company based in the United States, which processes it on our behalf to return the structured digest. Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, inputs and outputs are not used to train their models, and are not sold or used for advertising. The text is sent over encrypted connections and processed only to fulfil your request.

We ask for your explicit consent before any chat text is sent for AI processing. During onboarding — and again at the point of import — we tell you what is sent (the chat text you choose to import), who it is sent to (Anthropic), and how it is used. No chat content is sent until you agree, and only the chats you choose to import are ever shared.

4. How long we keep your data

• Message transcript: retained for up to about 14 days to power the "jump to original message" feature, then automatically removed.
• Digests/summaries: retained for up to about 30 days, then automatically removed.
• Account email: kept while your account is active.

Deleting a Space removes its associated content. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time (see "Your choices").

5. Service providers (sub-processors)

We share data only with providers that help us run Sakemly, and only as needed to deliver the service:

• Anthropic — AI processing of imported text to generate summaries.
• Resend — sending your one-time sign-in emails.
• Railway — application hosting.
• Supabase — database storage.
• Expo — delivering push notifications (reminders).

These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments.

6. Security

Your imported chat content and the summaries we generate are encrypted at rest (AES‑256‑GCM) before they are stored, so the stored data is not readable from a database leak or backup. Data is also transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Sign-in codes are stored hashed and are short-lived, and access to stored data is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

7. Your choices and rights

• Delete a Space at any time from within the app to remove its content.
• Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us.
• Request deletion of your entire account and associated data by contacting us.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. We will honour valid requests under applicable law.

8. Children

Sakemly is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the "Last updated" date above.
